From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the party reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
